And Yet Another Crib Incident

Oh about a month ago, Carter was in his room crying in a screaming type way putting himself to sleep when I hear THUMP and then a full out scream. I ran in and sure enough he had catipulted himself out of his crib and onto the floor. Well, then a few days later after putting the mattress down a level Carter was back in his room crying himself to sleep once again. The screaming/crying seemed to last a little longer and a littler stronger than normal, but no thump was heard so he was obviously just fine. But to my surpise when I went in to his room once he woke up he was hanging on for dear life so that he did not slip down into the corner abyss of his crib. Somehow one of the corners of the crib fell down and somehow he fell asleep on a slant clinging onto a portion of his sheets as to not fall down as well. Poor thing. My biggest regret is that I did not follow the cardinal rule: Take picture first, save baby second.

But the crib drama does not end there. Today, Carter took a long morning nap and before he ever started crying for me to go in and get him out I hear Thump following by a Scream. Sure enough Carter once again launched out of his crib. The reason I use the word "launch" is that there is no way he just fell out, because when he is standing in his crib the top of the crib is at his chin. How in the world did he do a pull up and somehow manuever his body over the crib bar? This kid never ceases to amaze me!

Wow what a kid. I am glad that he is ok. Maybe you need to put one of those nets over the crib, like they do for the monkeys in the zoo. J/K- You might just have a climber on your hands. Prepare yourself. I got a chuckle out the post though!!!

Ha, ha, ha... I am seriously laughing histaricaly right now!!! I can only imgaine all of this. Sounds like a crib net is in order for Carter! I hope there aren't any serious injuries that come out of his launching escapades! Good Luck!

Oh my word - that is hilarious. It seems you have a little gymnast on your hands! Maybe you should put a cover on the crib!

OH my gosh, Amber! I can NOT believe your NINE month old is catapulting out of his crib. Wow, you've got your hands full! And is Matt the one to blame for the shady job of putting the crib together in such a way that the mattress falls out from underneath the child? J/K Good luck with this!

The pleasures of having boys. i have decided that boys are just more determined to do anything and everything dangerous. Neither of my girls have tempted fate by launching out of their cribs but i am sure that anyone with boys are shaking their heads in agreement because their boys have all tried it at least once!

amber that is hillarious! my kids lead a boring life compared to your adventurous little Carter. I'm sure glad he's survived his escape attempts.

That honestly cracks me up! How do kids do it? I acutally never had a kid crawl out of a crib, but I'm sure it will happen sometime. That book I'm reading is great! Its really short, so easy read, and I really like what it talks about. Good luck with your superman boy!

I don't know whether to laugh for feel bad for the little guy! I can totally relate to the, "Take picture first, or save baby," dilemma. You are hilarious! How in the world did his crib collapse in that corner.

Amber- that is so hilarious! He is so strong! Joseph somehow pulled himself up and over once but he was closer to 2 years old. Carter is advanced! These boys seem to have a passion for being nursed/rocked/held to sleep. What a tough life when we just can't accomodate them anymore. It does get better.
