Labor Day

For Labor Day we went to a state park that is about an hour outside of Pittsburgh with our WONDERFUL neighbors. Heather and Oliver are who keep Carter and I going strong here in Pittsburgh (Matt was there with us, but Heather's husband was on call at the hospital). If they didn't live behind us I am pretty sure my sanity would be lost by now. Heather is my rock and we tease my lesbian spouse as well seeing as we spend more time with each other than our male spouses and Oliver calls me "Amber Mommy" and Carter has recently started calling Heather Mom as well.

These boys definitely have a brotherly love for each other. They often call for each other over each other's fences and Carter is often chattering away about Ollie and Ollie's house.

Oliver got an awesome purple goatee from his snow cone. Lookin good there Ol.

Come Rain or Shine

Carter loves to be outside. So much so that within the last couple weeks he has been letting himself outside on his own. Luckily, the backyard is fenced in and he doesn't venture outside the fence. (and I notice within a minute or two what he has done) . So anyway, the boy LOVES to be outside come rain or shine but especially come rain. And he is in luck because we get quite a bit of not only rain here but also because we are on top of a very big hill in which we get very hard core rain and wind, a perfect combination for the C-man. This last week has been rain, rain, and more rain which brings another thing Carter loves: MUD.

With all this mud, Carter has been taking about two baths a day.

Congrats Kurt n' Meg!!!

My hilarious brother-in-law Kurt and adorable sister-in-law Meagan announced this morning via email that they are expecting a little one due April 14th. In their email they sent us a link to view the following video entitled "Yup", a must see!!!

This is by far the best pregnancy announcement I have ever seen. If any of you have good stories I would LOVE to hear them. I don't think we could be any more excited for Kurt and Meagan. We love you guys and can't wait to start seeing Prego pics and ultrasound pics.

Idlewild Theme Park

A few weeks ago, a friend got Carter and I super discounted tickets to a theme park about an hour away that's called Idlewild. It is basically a theme park for kids. Though there are a few adult rides that are really mellow, it is mostly filled with kids rides and a water park. I thought I had forgotten my camera but found it half way through the day after the water park and beginning rides (including Mr. Rogers Neighborhood). I was not expecting at all the emotions that came with this day. We joyfully all piled into line for the boys to ride the first ride and I had a stabbing pain go through my heart when Carter ran away from me and into the ride without looking back. It chokes me up just writing about it. It's not that I want him dependent on me, but wow my baby is growing up!!

He can even ride a motorcycle.

The three buddies: Oliver in back and C and Linus in front.

They even had a little miniature Ferris wheel. (Oliver and Carter)

Puff and Carter: "Cheese"

Don't make fun, pink flames are super cool and manly. Real men wear and drive around in pink. Plus check out what a good driver he is.

Choo, Choo heaven. Our Engineer for our train ride saw the fascination Carter had for trains and let him sit on the front for a photo op. Poor mom couldn't get a good photo. Besides we were having a very fun yet no nap day hence the dazed look.

Our Best Back Door Buddies!!

Some more of our Best Buddies. Linus is trying his darnedest not to smile, but I think Maire is going to win.
Thanks to our wonderful friends, for not only saving our day on this particular day but for every other day that we spend here in Pittsburgh.
